About the Event
As we did in 2021, this year’s CCMC Winter Retreat and Reunion will be held online. We had really hoped that we could return to the redwood groves as we were used to doing the first weekend after Presidents’ Day but again this year, we’re inviting you to join the CCMC Winter Retreat ONLINE event to be held Friday, February 25 to Saturday, February 26, 2022.
The amount of time that you spend with us is up to YOU, but the most important thing is that if YOU come to the “party,” we’ll have a party!
WHEN:
Friday, February 25, 2022: 7 PM to 9 PM
Saturday, February 26, 2022: 9 AM to 5 PM
Note: All events are Pacific Time
HOW: Zoom meeting with break-out rooms designated for hosted and impromptu jams, Open Mics, songwriter’s circle and space for people who just want to chat. You’ll navigate through the event by clicking links embedded in the online schedule. Links to song charts, sign-up sheets and how-to information will be provided to registered attendees. You will receive an email with all the links after you register.
WHAT: Friday evening’s highlight will be an informative talk about how Summer Camp 2022 will work, including a Q&A. Our Camp coordinator, Janet Peterson, will talk about the new location and facility, the new week schedule, and the teaching staff. The evening’s schedule also includes chat rooms for visiting, an easy jam, and we’ll describe how the Zoom break-out rooms work.
Saturday’s schedule features eight hours of music and socializing. This year features guided jams by Steve Kritzer, Valerie Rose, Amy Friedricks, Verlene Schermer, and more. There’ll be a songwriter’s circle, open mics, and student-lead jams. The chat rooms are open all day for catching up with friends – and happy hour starts at 4pm. Although we are not offering instruction on Jamulus this year, there will “tech talk” opportunities to discuss with those who use the software.
WHO: This event is focused on CCMC Alumni and their guests. If space limitations arise, we’ll prioritize Winter Retreat or CCMC Summer Camp alumni. Our goal with this event is to re-create the real-life Winter Retreat culture as much as possible. To maintain privacy, we ask all attendees to not share the links.
TO REGISTER: All attendees must register online (see below). An All Access pass is $25. Pay with PayPal or mail in a check. Event fees are non-refundable. If you need financial assistance to attend, write to Retreat@musiccamp.org. The registration form also includes a way to make an optional donation to the CCMC general fund.
Soon after you register, we’ll email event information including the event schedule, Open Mic sign-up list, how-to documents, and volunteer information. We’ll be updating the schedule’s links and send additional emails as we get closer to the event. To maintain event security, we ask that you not share or publicize the meeting links, etc.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP: We need lots of helpers! We need greeters in the main Zoom room to help direct attendees to the break-out rooms, jam helpers to help with screen-sharing during Zoom sessions, and people to chair our focused chats about music and tech-related topics. To become a volunteer or to ask a question, write to Retreat@musiccamp.org. Please allow 1-2 days for a personal response.
